Hello All;
The United States Bureau Of Reclamation (USBR) is initiating research
consortia to investigate NDT methods for determining the in-place load
carrying capacity of large anchor bolts cast in concrete.
The Bureau has a number of dams where large anchor bolts, up to three inches
in diameter and over five feet long, are used to support large spillway
gates. Many of these anchor bolts were placed over 50 years ago. Currently
the USBR has no way of determining their load carrying capacity.
The Bureau is looking for partners that are also interested in evaluating
various nondestructive testing methods to solve this problem. It is
envisioned that each partner will provide their own funding in support of
this consortia.
