[NTIACNews]NDE Industry Update: EU Approves GE's Agfa Acquisition

Hello All,

The European Union gave the go-ahead last week for GE's purchase of 
Agfa's NDT Division.  GE had purchased Agfa's NDT Division in January of 
this year for approximately $400 Million U.S., but encountered 
regulatory hurdles in the EU.

GE offered to make the deal more palatable to regulators by divesting 
some of its other NDT holdings; specifically, GE is selling the 
ultrasonics division of Panametrics to Canadian company R/D Tech.

GE still has to gain the blessing of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, 
whose own review is still underway.
