The Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) has 
announced details for this year's SMRP Conference.  Their press release

12th Annual SMRP Conference
October 3-6, 2004
Norfolk, Virginia

The Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) will 
hold its 12th Annual Conference in Norfolk, Virginia from October 23-6, 
2004. The conference features four simultaneous tracks of information on 
Maintenance Management, Proactive Methods, Applied Technologies and 
Personal Development. Forty papers will be provided by practitioners and 
leading consultants in two information-packed days. Post-conference 
workshops and plant tours at leading manufacturers in the area will be 
offered.

The conference has featured three tracks in the past. However, 
conference attendance has increased dramatically over the past two 
years, and SMRP recognizes that maintenance and reliability 
professionals cannot rely solely on their technical and management 
skills. Thus, a new track featuring presentations on Personal 
Development has been added to the conference agenda.

Equally as important as the educational opportunities are the extremely 
valuable networking events that take place at the conference. It’s the 
place to meet other professionals, learn on a one-to-one basis, and make 
business contacts that will prove useful for years to come.

The SMRP Certifying Organization (SMRPCO) will provide two opportunities 
to earn the distinction, Certified Maintenance and Reliability 
Professional (CMRP). Certification exams will be offered before and 
after the conference. Since its inception at the SMRP 2001 conference, 
over 600 people have taken the exam and earned the title, “CMRP”.

The 12th Annual Conference will feature an exhibit area with leading 
suppliers of reliability products and services. For the first time SMRP 
will offer a spouse program and a golf tournament. Keeping with the 
theme of personal development, the keynote speaker for the conference, 
Keith Harrell, will speak on "Attitude is Everything".
