Hello All,
Reports coming out of Japan today are suggesting that corrosion caused
the failure of a carbon steel condenser pipe at the No. 3 reactor of
Mihama Nuclear Power Plant at Mihama in northern Japan that killed four
and injured several others. Reports vary on the details-some agencies
are reporting that the pipe was never inspected in the entire 28 year
history of the plant, others are reporting that it was inspected in
1996. Most agree that the managers "never expected such rapid corrosion."
